Q: Oh, Heavens What's that delightful scent? A: Why it's PARADISE EXHAUST!
Paradise Exhaust is short about a Mopey Miss, her Medellin Mom and a Magical Fridge. It's a playful through
the looking glass about Complacency, Celebrity and the Co-option of our modern life.
Feel like your life is going nowhere? Yeah well so does depressed, unmotivated, self-sabatuer, idealist, er media
artist Alexandra Campos. Self-sentenced to yet another identical day of folding clothes half-assed, and listening to her
mother's latest gossip about La Idiota (the idiot woman) Cordelia Cortez. It's game on when Alex is teleported to the dimension of Latino legends and folktales via magic refrigerator. She finds herself a contestant on a Hollywood Squares type "game show" called Wachate! where the guest celebrities are Latino Icons both old and new, La Llorona, El borracho(the drunk), La Virgen de Guadalupe, Emiliano Zapata, Sofia Tortilla, Wrestlers El Chu Chu and his "partner" Jeff, The Serena Sisters(Mermaid sisters), Frida Kahlo, La Muerte, (death) and hosted by none other than the man himself Chupacabra Jones.

BIG News Senorita Cinema Parte 5 wins Houston Press Best Festival 2015!
So You Feeling Lucky Punk? Lucky Seven that is.
A film and interactive performance directed by Stephanie Saint Sanchez
On view December 11, 2015– January 15, 2016
Opening Reception and Live Audience Recording: Friday, December 11, 2015 6-8p.m. Closing Screening Thursday January 14th 6:30-9:00PM
(Houston, TX) – Las Ultimas Live! is a new installation modeled after a silly-super-hero sitcom satire and aimed to explore the trappings of third wave feminism by Houston artist Stephanie Saint Sanchez. When the future president of the United States, Graciela, stumbles across her mother’s old stash of Tiger Beat magazines, she is overcome by a “retrocrush” for Erik Estrada. With the future of the free world at stake, it’s up to Las Ultimas, an all female super squad including Frida Kahlo, La Virgen de Viligante, and Sister Rolla, to save the day.
Las Ultimas converge on young Graciela’s bedroom just as she begins to enter the forbidden regions under her blanket, commits La Pecado Pecoso (the hot sin), and is doomed to lead a life of geeky shame. Las Ultimas get more than they bargained for when out of a puff of smoke appears Las Chingonas, a deadly crew comprised of La Puta (the embodiment of unapologetic feminine sexuality), La Serena (a mermaid who is inherently deceptive and cruel), and Aique Too Much (an out of control, pregnant Chola girl), ready to battle for the fate of Graciela’s soul.
The public is invited to a free opening reception and live studio screening beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, December 11, 2015, at Fresh Arts, 2101 Winter Street, Studio B11, Houston, TX, 77007. Free parking is available.
“It is a story about someone exploring their sexuality,” says Saint Sanchez. “I believe people have a duality in them and can’t commit wholly to being good or bad. Every time I go to sell my soul to the devil, I always chicken out.” The exhibition is an experiment to gauge our collective concept of the good girl, the bad girl, the virgin, the whore, and the notions in between.
The screening and performance will take place in the Fresh Arts Gallery. Those who attend the opening will serve as the live studio audience that will be responsible, in the end, for determining Graciela’s fate.

KITTY LOCO Goes All 80's for EAST END LIVE ART EVENT POLITIQUEER 12/11/11

Kitty Loco was at it again strutting her kitty stuff and kicking it one time for the 'cause. In the music video short "Good Queer, Bad Queer" Kitty finds herself wrapped in delicious controversy as she attempts to resist the temptations of a certain homophobic fast food chicken chain. Voices Breaking Boundaries presented Thirteen artists were chosen by POLITIQUEER curators Sima Shakhsari and Jennifer Tyburczy after an open call made in early September for performance art pieces, dramatic readings, spoken word and other forms of embodied art examining the official and everyday dimensions of “queer politics.”

“AMAZING LIVING THEATRE”
BRINGS DEAD ART FORM TO LIFE
October 1, 2010 (HOUSTON). . . In the aftermath of a horrendous tsunami of crude oil, society is shattered and the art and history of theater are lost to the ages. Those who wish to practice the now-illegal art form (it is believed to cause fires) are forced underground, where they live in constant fear of discovery.
...To secure their traveling expenses, the descendants of theater performers operate illegal freak shows that reveal secrets of the now forbidden craft in the back alleys and crumbling theatrical venues of a post-apocalyptic Houston of 2020.
Audience members move through the traveling spectacle and are even invited to take part in the action. Casual dress is advised as audience members must walk through the exhibits and may even be forced to duck for cover in times of danger.

Come up to the Lab and see what's on the slab: Stephf meets the Labotanica School of Latitudes Artists as Activators Residency Program

School of Latitudes is an artist residency that takes place August to September 2010, conceived, curated and presented by labotanica. School of Latitudes explores new approaches to creating and presenting art that are artist-driven, DIY, and that locate creativity in all sorts of environments and places. The residency is not about completing these projects, but simply exploring, launching and testing out these ideas, all the while using labotanica as a hub to do this. The residency will culminate in an exhibition and publication documenting the start of these new projects. The theme of the first session of School of Latitudes is “artists as activators”. The residency locates artists as active agents of change and explores integrative approaches to making art in our community.
Labotanica is a resource and a laboratory. labotanica uses flexible, open-ended formats to frame new art forms and dialogues that are often independent, experimental and developing. labotanica key words: reciprocity, exploration, freedom, latitudes, magical thinking, open-ended, flexibility, de-center, soulfulness, processes. http://labotanica.org
Project Proposal: BLOOD BITCH is an experimental multi-media theater adventure based on a re-imagining of the Story of The Bloody Countess Elizabet Bathroy(1560-1614) who was rumored to bathe in the blood of her virgin servants in the belief that it would keep her young forever. It is a musical comedy. Audibly it sounds like Disney/Blondie/and Charo. Visually it is Early Tim Burton/ 70′s Brian Depalma (Phantom of the Paradise/Carrie).

ROOTS Of REBELLION SHOW At DEANS

What kind of ruckus is upon us? Read on Friend and find out!
Houston, TX (July 10, 2010) – Five Houston visual artists salute Independence Day and ‘The Spirit of ’76’ in the Roots of Rebellion photography exhibition opening 8 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Dean’s Credit Clothing in Montrose (315 Fairview St.)
Liana Lopez, Bryan Parras, Hadeel Assali, Burnell McCray and Stephanie Saint Sanchez present visual testimony of the seeds of rebellion and protest from coastal Louisiana, Houston, Mexico City and Palestine. She is also the recipient of a Houston Arts Alliance Emerging Artist. Bryan Lucas Parras is co-founder of Texas Environmental Justice Advocacy Services (T.E.J.A.S), a Houston non-profit environmental organization. He is a multi-media documentarian who focuses on rapid response video journalism to cover breaking regional environmental justice news and a 2009 Gulf Coast Fellowship for Community Transformation recipient.
Hadeel Assali is a Palestinian-American originally from the Gaza strip. She is an engineer living and working in Houston and the founder of the Houston Palestine Film Festival.
Burnell McCray is a Houston-based fine art and documentary photographer with over 10 years experiences photographing for Voices Breaking Boundaries (VBB).

Exhibition Dates: April 9 – May 15, 2010 labotanica is open to the public saturday, 1-5pm
labotanica presents La Lengua Muerta (The Dead Tongue) an exhibition of new works driven by private conversations about deciphering how Latin we still are. A group of uprooted and acclimating emerging artists are both subversively and romantically embracing classification as a point of departure to investigate their historical and current geography. A panel of established artists, curators and critics: Elia Arce, Margarita Cabrera, Aisen Chacin, Delilah Montoya, Ruben Cordova and Surpik Angelini, will participate in dialogue at labotanica, offering the artists their Latin Label experience. At the core of these dialogues lays the need to move beyond traditional categories of “Latin American Art” and to frame new definitions, visual languages and creative practices among these artists in Houston. La Lengua Muerta will yield visual and performance works to be as diverse (in form, subject, aesthetics, and influences) as being Latin American. Participating artists include: Daniel Adame, Chuy Benitez, Aisen Caro Chacin, Claudia Cruz, Sebastian Forray, Jonathan Lopez, Angel Quesada, Cheyanne Ramos, Stephanie Saint Sanchez, and Alex Soares. La Lengua Muerta is a Gulf Coast Art Corridor project curated by Aisen Caro Chacin
La Lengua Muerta is a Gulf Coast Art Corridor project conceived and commissioned by Elia Arce, and supported by an Arts and Activism Exchange grant. Arce is currently an Artist-In-Residence at DiverseWorks supported by a New Voices Fellowship, a Ford Foundation Initiative.
